FAQ

Q. What is a mechanical pocket watch?

A. A mechanical watch uses energy stored in a wound mainspring rather than a battery. A hand-wound mechanical watch is wound by turning its crown. An automatic mechanical watch has a self-winding mechanism; carrying a hand-wound watch does not wind it automatically. Check the movement specified for your model.

Q. How long will a mechanical watch keep time while it is sitting still?

A. Running time depends on the movement and how fully its mainspring is wound, not whether a hand-wound watch is moving. Wind it regularly according to its instructions and stop when you feel resistance; never force the crown. Ask us about your model if its power reserve is not listed.

Q. Why mechanical instead of a battery?

A. Both mechanical and quartz movements are used in pocket watches. Mechanical suits someone who enjoys the winding ritual; quartz uses a battery and needs no daily winding. Our Swiss Pocket Watches collection includes quartz and selected mechanical designs. Choose using the movement stated on the individual product page.

Q. What shipping do you use?

A. We use Australia Post eparcel — fast, and trackable (a tracking number is provided). Standard shipping to New Zealand is $14.99 (7–14 business days) and is free on orders over $99; Express is $19 (3–7 business days). In-stock items dispatch from Brisbane in 1–2 business days. Classique custom orders ship in 2–3 weeks. FOB & Co backorders ship in 1–2 months.

Q. What if I don’t like the design when I receive it?

A. No problem, you can send it back for a full refund, or exchange it for another watch. It’s important that you (or the recipient if it is for a gift) love the watch, so please contact us if you need to change it. You have 60 days from delivery to return or exchange, provided the watch is unworn and in its original packaging. You pay the return postage; we cover it only where the Consumer Guarantees Act requires us to.
