Brass sits between gold and something older-looking. The tone is warm but muted, it does not read as dressy the way a bright gold case does, and it takes decorative work well, which is why so many of the covers on this shelf are fretworked, pierced or see-through rather than plain. It is the finish that gets picked for steampunk and vintage styling, for a costume piece that also has to work, and for anyone who finds polished metal too loud.

What is in the collection

Most brass pieces are half hunter cases with a glazed window cut into the hinged lid, so the time reads with the case shut, and many of those covers are open enough to see the movement through. Movement and wear

Every brass watch in stock is hand-wound mechanical. Turn the crown once a day and stop when the resistance turns firm; there is no battery. The movement is covered by a 12-month warranty. Brass tones are finishes on the case of a new vintage-style watch, so a wipe with a dry, soft cloth is all the care they need, and they are best kept away from perfume and cleaning products.
